The most unambiguous affirmation of resurrection in Second Temple Judaism is 2 Macc 7, in which seven brothers are martyred for their faith and proclaim clear belief in bodily resurrection before they die. The first verse says, “On another occasion a Jewish mother and her seven sons were arrested.” Those are the seven brothers the Sadducees are referring to.
I read the 2 Maccabees 7 and I’m not sure what significance it has to this reading today. Maybe you can enlighten me.
